KCSM is a San Francisco Bay Area listener supported broadcast radio station. If this information is contradictory to forum rules, my apologies.

they play EVERYTHING by anybody, all the time, and it's never boring, no playing the same song three times in one hour.

If you can't find anything better than a Coltrane retrospective then
you need a new program director. Same applies for a Miles Davis
retrospective. These two have been done to death. How about a retro-
spective of: The Modern Jazz Quartet, or Stan Getz, or Tommy Flanagan,
or Dave Brubeck, or Johnny Hartmann, or any of the dozens and dozens
of other jazz giants who had or have far more talent?
Of course, there's always the possibility that what the audience actually
wants is yet another Coltrane pigout, which will prompt them to send
money. I suspect this is the case.
John Coltrane and Miles are very major figures in the history of jazz.
If KCSM played more Coltrane and pre-electric Miles as well the artists which you mentioned and current artists which still play music which I find interesting I would still be a member and a listener.
To me KCSM has become scarce more than a smooth jazz station. Very Sad. To me at least.

and of some obscure artists that I listened to recently. I just got my tuner back to work this summer (upgraded, actually resolved an antenna issue) and KCSM has a good show practically every day or night.I caught some of the Coltrane story and as familiar I am with it as I am, I still need reminding some times. Great for new listeners especially.

Back "in the day" if you needed to take a break, hit the head, catch a smoke, or grab a bite to eat just put on "My Favorite Things".
Need a couple more minutes?
Let it play into "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye".
Jazz stations didn't have the luxury "Whipping Post" or Beethoven's Fifth.
KCSM is STILL a gem.

Never apologize!
