Contemplating Saturday.
Vbr,
Sam
Don't contemplate - just go. You can get an exhibits-only badge for free. If you're a bit sneaky, you can also get into a session or two, 'cause many of the staff don't pay much attention to the color stripe on the badge.
Also, find out what tours are available. When I went in 2014, I toured the Disney concert hall and The Village recording studios.
I'm sitting this one out - hoping that in the next year or two, it'll be in San Fran. In fact, I'm going to SF in November to hang out with my buddy who designs amplifiers. I love Beserkeley.
Give us a full report.
:)
Hey Inmate,
I had much more extensive plans regarding AES 141, particularly after perusing the detailed calendar. The strands and technical tours were VERY interesting; however, my nephew (in the film industry) whom we wanted to visit would be out-of-town.
Our plans curtailed and AES membership, ~$450 IIRC, is necessary to purchase the technical tour tix. So...my interest abated. The exhibits close Saturday -- nothing captured interest for Sunday.
My spouse and I have credentials for the exhibits (free). I'll visit the Merging Technologies booth and check out the ATC demo at EastWest Studios, should we make it up from San Diego.
Were you charged for participating in the tours? If I may ask, what were the prices?
Thanks.
Vbr,
Sam
Yeah, there's a fee for the tours, but it's cheap. Something like $10 or $20. I don't know where you're finding the $450 price for membership. Full membership in AES is like $150.I used to be a member, but my garage became full of journals, so my wife made me stop. Hahahaha!

Thanks for the info...definitely is reasonable for the tour! You're correct -- I conflated the All Access Badge (AAB) price with AES membership.
Had my preliminary itinerary worked out, I would have purchased the AAB and membership.
--> Trying to get motivated...wish the exhibits were available through Sunday. :-(
Vbr,
Sam
