I was privileged last night to hear the Heritage Blues Orchestra live at the College of St Benedict. This band is tight, and a toe tappin', foot stompin' good time was had by all. If you get the chance, don't pass it up.

Great find, appreciate the info. I will be following more closely.
Everything you said and more. Thank you for posting this.
These are two old-time blues men. You just have to love it when they're playing...it's hard to keep your feet still.
.
Thanks and I'm sure you enjoyed it live.
That hand jive routine reminded me of Little Willie John back when I was in high school. Also, pretty mean mouth harp.
"The piano ain't got no wrong notes." Thelonious Monk
He said that hand routine was a "hambone", and was commonly used to keep time when they didn't have a drummer. He asked how many people remembered it, and a show of hands went up, mine included. "Yeah...everyone with grey hair."
That video is a few years old. Unfortunately. I wasn't able to find a more recent one. They have a new female vocalist now - Deva Mahal, daughter of blues artist Taj Mahal. The mouth harp was amazing, as was the lead guitarist, Junior Mack. He really shredded that thing on a couple of tunes. Actually, they were all amazing. It was a great evening.
