Shortly after AA started, several of us met up and liked the idea of getting together, so we created a group called Bay Area Audio Asylum (BAAA). We started out with invitation to folks we met here. Then people started inviting their friends.
The format was similar to what you described. Mostly we got together and talk about music, life, other stuff. Soon after, food got involved, our significant others got involved. And we just get together and had a great time every few weeks. Sometimes we bring gears to compare or test. The music taste is very diverse, so you are always hearing stuff you don't normally hear.
We even have annual Christmas party. But then everyone grew up, had kids, moved away...It's been years since we got together.
I tried to set up a get-together last month. But family schedule got in the way....

Digging around it looks like you have it organized as a Yahoo mail group. Please add me in. Once I'm in, I'll mention it on the Facebook group for those who might be interested. I can also relay event announcements you'd like to have mentioned there.

Hi Russ,
Had to give the guys a heads up first. I've sent you an invite. Once you join, I'll make you one of the group admins.
