Both the 2-CD and the video are excellent.
The video is something that should be seen at least once, you then can appreciate the CDs imaging. He put together a first rate band for touring.
I saw him live a few years ago, a wonderful show. Considering that Leonard is in his mid to late 70s, he had great energy and a deeper voice. The only disappointment was that Bob Metzger was not with him, although the replacement was no slouch either.
I would place Cohen in with the top 10 songwriters of my era.
Most audiophiles know Leonard's songs, from Jennifer Warnes "Famous Blue Raincoat". A very fine album of Leonard's music released on Cypress Records in 1986.
A fun fact the Sumiko speaker set up guide uses a Leonard Cohen song sung by Jennifer Warnes, recorded on Rob Wasserman's "Duets" CD. The song is "Ballad Of The Runaway Horse". I got the opportunity to hear the limited addition K2 HD Mastering Japanese import CD of "Duets" on a pair of Vandersteen 5a with all Audio Research tube gear. It was so good, really impressive in every way.
I fully agree, I have the 2008 concert but not the DVD. There is an older live CD too, have you heard that one, very good, he was in top vocal form.
