If this is going to work, your receiver needs to have a "preamp in" section. Many have a "pre-out" so a user can bypass the amp in the receiver, but I don't think I've ever seen a "pre-in"
It's a blessing in disguise. Get a good used multichannel amp like an Outlaw.
The receiver is a multichannel onkyo 1030, I already have the maranta connected to an stereo amp I just want to evaluate the movie side of the pre pro while I am able to spend on amps that is until next year. I think read something about the multichannel analog outs but I didn't understand quite well.
If the new pre/pro has a digital out, then you could run that to the Onkyo's DVD digital in. The better solution would be if the Onkyo has a mutilchannel input with 5 RCA inputs. Then just connect that from you amp outputs on the pre/pro.

In order to answer your question we need to know what the receiver is. A small number (now vintage?) would allow a link to be removed allowing the separation of pre amp section from power amp section. However I am only aware of this facility for certain stereo not multichannel components. So to connect this AV pre would lose the whole multichannel point of the Marantz 7702.
My advice is to either buy a multi channel amp (if MCH is what you want) or write down your mistake to experience and sell it.
You can connect the out of the pre pro to say the aux in put if there are no pre out main in jumpers. It will work. The disadvantage is the signal is routed through the pre section too, an unneeded gain stage. Its not like connecting to a receiver even with main in is that good anyway.

OP, what Awe-d-o-phile says is correct.
However if you are connecting the output of one pre into the input of another pre then the sound you get will only be as good as the worse of the two pre's at best. I suspect that the receiver will be the worse of the two ( why else would you have bought another pre?) so you may as well just use the receiver. Adding the Marantz will not give you any advantage but will give you some disadvantage e.g. additional connections and more circuitry than you need, both of which will degrade the sound.
But it seems just getting sound is the objective or he wouldn't be using a receiver. Time for a multichannel amp...
Good stereo is my thing no MCH or HT in my house
