I haven't paid yet this year to be a contributor (it was due 7/28), as I have been out of town a bunch lately.
I am signed in to the Audio Asylum, yet I'm still getting these obnoxious ads popping up. I have tried to sign out and then back in without any luck.
Do I have to be a contributor to make these ads stop now?

Follow Ups:
. . . I've kind of missed those ads for mail-order Russian and Ukrainian brides:
Last week I got fed up with the ads and made a contribution. Rethinking my attitude I realized that if it were not for the Audioasylum I would not be enjoying the great sound I hear from my audio system.
I can't/couldn't/wouldn't attempt to put a monetary value on what I've learned around here
(including the treasure trove archives).
And that's just AUDIO!

We should not be subjected to such, Bullshit...
FAAC (Fundamentalist Audio Asylum Contributors) have you in their crosshairs. And all those ads for virgin brides you've been seeing? Merely an enticement used to snare new contributors. In truth, they are reserved for high-ranking Fundamentalist members...

"E Burres Stigano?"
In a hobby where we spend crazy prices to entertain ourselves with (by most sane standards)
pricey equipment and media, including the cords to connect it all, the fuses to protect it, the
polish for the discs, the cleaners for the records, being a contributor to AA is a no bullshit way to
spend a few bucks and support a worthy cause.
Hell, some people here probably spend a couple hours of their time installing software to AVOID
ads and contributing to AA thinking they are saving money.
If I can afford to be a contributor, believe me, ANYONE can.
And then... no bullshit, unless of course you are referring to Geezer's post, which I did NOT consider bullshit.

Is that those ADs are generated by places you have been, most of the time, so I wonder if people realize how much they are revealing about themselves?
I am tardy in making my contribution this year so I have learned to live with the ads until I do my duty.
If you like AA enough to visit frequently, as most respondents to this post do, support it.

to this thread AREN'T contributors.
That's usually the trend with this topic.
Their contribution, time energy and focus seems to be on how to beat the ads without contributing to the site they are posting on.
Ironic ain't it?

Im a long time contributor but still posted on using a proxy server because EVERYONE should use one.

yep,
when I log off I do get ads, some of them are very entertaining and tempting, Russian Milfs, Asian women made just for me (who would have thought? :)
I try to contribute every year.
Did so about an hour ago. Renewed my ward status. Relatively painless and so much entertainment.
I get the ads with Internet Explorer...but not with Firefox.
Evelyn Woods speed reading. Try to beat the pop up.
Or just pay the $25.

What ads? I use Adblock Plus. I haven't seen ads on any website for a very long time.
Actually Windows annoys me so much that the ads on websites are a minor thing in comparison. And the place does not nag me to update my browser, or Java.
I avoided a virus not updating Java. It nags me at reboot but I never reboot, then one day it started nagging me every ten seconds. Well instead of updating I ran a scan and it found something. Removed it and the nagging stopped.
I take it the update was for security ? Yeah right.
Yes or use a proxy server like Proxomitron to block them

Remember what "they" say... if you use a web service, and it's not obvious what the product is that they're selling... it's you.
all the best,
