On some weekend in May 1992, I went home to San Francisco. At Japantown Bowl on that gorgeous Saturday early afternoon, the other kids were listening to The Cure's "Friday I'm In Love," which I liked.
But when I returned to UC Santa Cruz, whoo wee, all those wannabe hippies were pissed, and screamed, "Sell out!"
Damn, they weren't that ticked off since, well, Clarence Thomas. But in this time of grunge, rap, and alt-rock, the wannabe hippies absolutely HATED "Friday I'm In Love." They lost all respect for The Cure.
But hey, everybody else liked "Friday I'm In Love."

Thanks! for sharing- G2 and Lummy.
It's a great pop song. And I generally don't like much by them up to the "Kiss Me.." album. Saw them 3 times overall in 80's and they were very good.. VERY loud shows.
Those same hippies might really dig the recent Yo La Tengo cover of "Friday I'm In Love". :)
