I loved sitting in front of my Pioneer CTS-709 three head deck watching the meters while cuing up the tracks on the CD player and making sure the timing wouldn't waste any valuable tape - and the crazy nut that I was was buying those ridiculously expensive metal tapes. Had to be the best ones even if my machine was no Nakamichi Dragon.I did the same with laserdisc to VHS - not for the picture quality back in the day but mainly for the widescreen aspect ratio. P&S was so distracting.
Along the way I discovered that certain artists did the trick and that mixed tapes were a bit distracting. So here is my advice for most of the women I have known over the years whether 25 or 55:
SADE. Best of CD or LP (yes a new remaster of her greatest hits on 180gram) but CD is fine too.
SADE -- I repeat SADE.

Spin "Cherish the Day" a little louder than normal for me. I just did. Love that silky voice.
Adu too.

I really enjoyed Sade's newest release: Soldier of Love
And, I also bought the expensive metal tapes (usually TDK, as I remember), but in my case it was indeed for a Nakamichi Dragon! :)
