I think if you search the archives you will find a lot. Below is just one such link. The issue is important to many of us aging audiophiles, so please let us know what you find out as you go through the journey.

The only real change is that I'm 87 now.
Some things to emphasize. This is emphatically not a DIY endeavor. You need a competent, patient audiologist. If I had to deal with the first brand she recommended, I would have given up almost immediately. But she came up with another brand (Widex) and a no-cost trade for the first ones. This is important cost-wise, because we're dealing with $5,000+ devices (both ears).
Even at that, more patience and multiple visits were required. Also, forget about the high frequencies. I can't hear a thing over 8 kHz but (and you may not believe this) it simply doesn't matter when you're my age. It certainly doesn't affect the daily hours I listen to music.
Point is, don't give up, though you may have to give up one audiologist for another, if you're not getting anywhere with the first one, or the first brand of aids you try.
I will be 80 next week. My ears have been battered by the harsh sounds encountered in 30 years of military service (Army and Air Force. On a good day, I can hear up to 5000Hz.
But that is high enough so that I can still enjoy my fabulous stereo and the local philharmonic. In fact, I don't even feel my loss until there is a passage in which I know there are triangles but I barely (if at all) hear them.
But age marches on (if I am lucky), so I will be watching this forum with great interest.
