That ELAC is an amazing bargain, isn't it!
I was impressed by the German PHysiks too, but for whatever reason (recording?) was underwhelmed by the MBLs.
Concur re the Audio Note -- one of the show's surprises, given that it seemingly violates every principle of contemporary speaker design and placement!

The two times I was in the ELAC room, no music was played........
Bummer. It sounded better than some of the high end rooms! I didn't get to hear it with really revealing program material, so can't say for sure, but what I heard left me impressed, doubly so considering their price. They played several recordings with male voice, which was very nicely rendered, and one with female voice, sounded good as well. I didn't hear the sheen of a truly great tweeter but then I wasn't in the sweet spot -- the room was packed. Aussming they sound this good with a wide range of program material they'd be great for a non-audiodphile or someone on a budget.
They also showed a very ckever Bluetooth sub control for their $500 sub. You use the smartphone's microphone to take a very nearfield reading at the cone, and then you go the listening position and take a reading two -- it substracts the two to derive the woofer room correction curve.
