Because I'm not going to buy that either.

It's got a thermo compensated quartz movement which isn't what you see in everyday quartz watches and clocks. There are only a few companies that offer watches with these high end Quartz movements and I can't think of any that are cheaper than this Mac product.
In reality, I bet this product creates a bit of a buzz in the horological collecting circles with those whose focus is ultra high accuracy Quartz movements.
How can so many audiophiles be so ignorant?
You mean beacuse we can't see the real value of this highly advanced clock or the fact that no matter how ridiculously accurate the clockworks are, the display mechanism (those adimittedly cool-looking meters) is unable to convey that accuracy because it's essentially a visual gimmick?

If it was an "Analog Digital Clock" then it might actually be worth $29.95... er, $58.95.

To add insult upon injury, I bet it's made in China.

Actually that's one really cool thing about McIntosh. The CEO says that while he is steering the ship everything will be hand made right here in the USA.
The McIntosh factory has almost no turnover and people wait years to get a job there. Once they are in they never leave.
It is a somewhat odd device, since it does have the classic Mac look.
My one comparison of McIntosh to Bryston (about 6 years ago) left me feeling like the MAC gear was old hat/old school warm and 'fuzzy'.
I sadly was totally not impressed with the MAC sound.
The MAC sound reminded me of all those 1970's and 80's Japanese receivers.
I know PLENTY of MAC lovers will be rabid over my comment, but, it is what it is. I have bad things to say about some Bryston gear too. No 'favorite' brands..
Well I do favor Audio Research in theory... With Pass Labs a close second.
"The MAC sound reminded me of all those 1970's and 80's Japanese receivers."
Some of the 1970s Japanese receivers actually sounded quite good..... Most notably the Harman Kardon 430, 730, 930, hk560, Marantz 2330B, Onkyo TX-8500 (original, not MkII), and Sansui G-901DB (not G-9000DB).
The blue hits my eyes in a rather burning way.
They really should upgrade to LED.
...pretty sure Mac's newer stuff is using them. And yes, it would seem that Mac's current owners are aiming Mac at the mid-fi/lifestyle market while ARC takes on what remains of the "high-end".
....They've completely gone ultra high end and abandoned their entry to mid level products. Plus their new vintage retro mid-century modern shag carpet bell bottom grand dad look - or whatever you call it - looks pretty crappy to me. But hey, maybe it's just me not liking their newer stuff.
There is no "they", ARC, as in a privately owned company entity. There is only WOM.

All those hip young(ish) people with that stayed, senior citizen-looking McIntosh gear. It doesn't compute.OTOH I don't agree with AbeCollins about ARC stuff looking crappy. Even the new stuff preserves the laboratory instrument style that I've always enjoyed.
Mac vs. ARC ...
I love the music of Dmitri Shostakovich ...

ARC for me on looks. I am biased. I own an ARC preamp.
I like their earlier "laboratory instrument style", but not the current "retro" look.
I have to agree with Abe. The ARC gear (pictured in this thread) looks to me like a toaster oven.

Just a guess the new look has a lot to do with Charlie Randall. He is one of the owners of WOM. ARC is owned by WOM.
