Did he make a ton of money in the books and buy that house with the incredible view?
I'm thinking he bought the stereo when he bought the house.

Follow Ups:
In the show he always makes a point of telling people, that he bought the house with money from a movie that was loosely based on him,he wants people to know, he is not on the take. The amp is an mc240 which I wonder if that would be enough power for those speakers. I am not familiar with Ohm but I have heard they need power.

As I recall in the books, the house had an incredible view but needed some repairs. I seem to recall that at one point there was a danger of it sliding down the hill. Harry definitely wasn't wealthy. His audio system as described in the books was decidedly modest.
For someone who's never read anything by him?
Is Bosch pretty much his whole deal or does he have other recurring characters or does he do stand alone novels?

I've only read the Harry Bosch books. Michael Connolly is also the author of the "Lincoln Lawyer" books but I haven't tried those yet. If you're interested in one of the Bosch books you might try "The Black Ice". It's a good way to get acquainted with Harry's way of doing things. Enjoy.
...maybe you recall the Clint Eastwood film, Blood Work, about an older cop who gets a heart transplant, then solves the murder of guy whose heart he got.
Here's a list - I'd start at the beginning because they're all good.
Michael Connelly's Fiction
The Black Echo (1992)
The Black Ice (1993)
The Concrete Blonde (1994)
The Last Coyote (1995)
The Poet (1996)
Trunk Music (1997)
Blood Work (1998)
Angels Flight (1999)
Void Moon (2000)
A Darkness More Than Night (2001)
City Of Bones (2002)
Chasing The Dime (2002)
Lost Light (2003)
The Narrows (2004) (sequel to The Poet)
The Closers (2005)
The Lincoln Lawyer (2005)
Echo Park (2006)
The Overlook (2007)
The Brass Verdict (2008)
The Scarecrow (2009)
Nine Dragons (2009)
The Reversal (2010)
The Fifth Witness (2011)
The Drop (2011)
The Black Box (2012)
The Gods of Guilt (2013)
The Burning Room (2014)
The Crossing (2015)
The Wrong Side Of Goodbye (Coming November 2016)
which title I don't remember, is that in the Movie of Blood Work, w/Clint Eastwood,
the plot was changed, the bad guy was changed, and some other stuff.
So in the sequel, the characters in the fictional Novels were complaining about how they were portrayed in the actual Movie.
Fictional Life imitating Fictional Movies about the fictional literature characters...
When I read Bloodwork after seeing the movie, I kept thinking, but that's not how it went...
I got such a kick out sequel kind of bashing the Movie.
I was floored that they changed it so much to the point where it was a different bad guy altogether!
Michael got his subtle revenge...
