I only made it through page 7 of the photos, but I actually liked the many pictures of turntables and tonearms. What I don't get are the huge amplifiers and speakers with all the bling. Who buys this stuff? I just don't understand the economics of this part of our hobby.

IMO the endless clear plexiglass type of TT may appeal to some, but I hate them.
To me they look like cobbled up junk.
Locally, years back a dealer had one he wanted $10,000 for. It had a handmade look. Out of 2" thick plexiglass. The 'dust lid' was the same material, (and one needed a backhoe to lift it off..) LOL
For FREE.. I would not accept it. Really.
one of these with less vertical challenge or color.
Maybe there is a small rodent running through them to keep the RPMs going?

Do I need 2 for stereo?
Could they be more interested in showing off their technical capabilities than in actually selling?

As extreme as it gets and impossible for almost everybody, the funny thing is, the designer said they have 7 of them sold, at the princely sum of 280,000 Euros. And who knows, they'll probably sell more at the upcoming show in Hong Kong, where it will be on demonstration for the first time. I say go for it. Not because it's wildly expensive but because it's a genuine effort to further the state of the art. Remember, some of the technology and knowledge that go into the Porsche 918 Spyder trickles down to Volkswagens.

After all that design effort on the turntable he should not let the tonearm be the old fashioned one. He should have a portal design to track in a straight line without which it is just another turntable to me. Perhaps he wont disappoint in Hong Kong.

Bill, you may have noticed that he has a specific place in the rear center for a linear tracking tonearm to be mounted as well as the four locations for conventional pivoted arms. No stone unturned as far as I can see. Apparently his tonearm has sold well enough that they could fund the turntable project, and now the turntable is off to a running start, judging by sales.

Thanks Brian for that information. I will be looking forward to his design of linear tracking arm.
Best Wishes

I didn't get the impression they are planning to make a linear tracking arm. The mount is there for something like a Kuzma Air Line, for example, which he mentioned in the video.
