Finally hauled the Apple TeeVee out of mothballs and hooked it to the Oppo via HDMI & the digital out to the Halo Integrated. A few quick settings and in 10 minutes it allowed an update & scanned my library. And there was my albums and artwork and Itunes streamed perfectly from my Mac Pro.
SQ was not as good as with the main system using the same files and a Mac Mini and Audiorvana software bumping rez up X2.
I should have tried this back when it was suggested...

My mobility is increasingly becoming limited; my kids gifted me this welcome accessory to my all-vinyl rig, a Miccus Home RTX (behind the phono stage). Streaming from Ipad to my pre-amp with it's wonderfully archaic 76 tubes eliminates the constant 20 minute cycle of "turn me over, turn me over" and puts me in mind of Arthur C. Clarke's famous:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
Not high end by any means but definitely kinda magical for this Old Fart!
AppleTV is not a bad solution for a quick and easy setup that sounds decent. It doesn't do hi-res but for "CD quality" it's just fine. We have a couple AppleTV's in our home for streaming in different rooms.
the OPPO/Apple combo played well together! Not wanting to convert the purpose bought hard drive to FLAC so the OPPO would display artwork and Metadata....I have that now and best of all I have shuffle.
I need to figure how to shuffle an entire genre and then I will be happy...
If you have the source feeding the Oppo, then you should be able to do that if it shows up on the Oppo's "Note" main menu setting. There should be a green arrow on top when you open that. Go above by pointing (up on the remote) with your Oppo remote. Navigate (by right arrow) to the third list of selections and choose "Genres" from the choices.
At least that's the way it works on my 105D.
