On another topic, how many of the listed decks will play 15 ips/IEC eq? Not to mention, they are using 70s solid-state electronics in those prosumer machines. Are you still using your '70s receiver?

Yes, my Revox A77 Mk IV is both nostalgic and late-70's SS. (Still, it sounds great.) Our friend John Curl once (maybe more) said words to the effect 'keep the transport, but re-do the electronics'. Hence, the birth of better electronics in products like the Levinson 1" four track.
John , some years ago had posted on DIY what he did when modding the electronics , i will look to see if i still Have the schematics ..BTW i was never a fan of Akai stuff , (owned a few) Always thought they fell short compared to Teac , Sony, Revox, Technics , et al ...
