The was a small window on the front wall - he pulled curtains across it and we immediately heard a difference/improvement.
For a long time I've been a proponent of LEDE listening rooms with the dead end being the front around the speakers.
I believe Brian Cheney (of VMPS speakers - RIP) wrote an article for Stereophile about LEDE rooms in the early 1990s.

That was circa 1980 on my first visit to Sea Cliff.
Twenty odd years later, the Maggie 20.1s sounded better overall in that same room, IMHO.
...when I was there in 1985 an 1986 the room was better organized and had a small red curtain over the front window.
music to be found out and about in Harry's listening rooms. Vinyl, CD/SACDs, tape, etc.
My next visit in '83 didn't seem much different. Or when my wife and I passed through on our honeymoon in '86.
unparallel walls and a slopping ceiling were the vogue too!
Non-parallel walls and sloped ceilings go a long way toward enabling the development of a desirable ambient soundfield and reducing problems with room resonances and reflections. This is not controversial, it is well-established over many decades through the study and analysis of room acoustics.:)
