Our lives where changed forever.
Anarchy in the UK is now 40 years old
Some say that it's more relevant than ever: maybe so in this very, very, ill culture.

Where people had paid to see inside,
For entertainment they watch his body twist
Behind his eyes he says, 'I still exist.'"

Speak for yourself Kemosabe. The only recorded references to "punk" I own are from Dirty Harry movies. :)

I'm just not part of the *punk* culture.

What do I do differently or listen to that has been affected by punk culture?
`everyone is, as everyone has been influenced by it -t `
Of course it does !!!
BTW , long time ago I was big fun of S.P.,
from that old time I even have several original UK LP-vinyls ,and I will respect S.P. music&influence forever , BTW gig at Brixton Academy was spectacular good sounding .

According to the definitive Sex Pistols discography on the website "God Save The Sex Pistols," EMI released "Anarchy In The UK" on November 26, 1976. The Sex Pistols first live performance was on November 6. On the other hand, I'd argue that punk began with the first Ramones gig at CBGBs, on August 16, 1974. The Ramones' first album preceded "Anarchy In The UK" by 7 months too.

Sgt. Pepper what? It's rather older than 40 (50 the summer after next)so I am a bit lost as to what you are referring.
I'm also a bit lost as to what the post is referring to.
I was just thinking of the words-it was 40 years ago today...

Of the Dead Kenny G's.
come up to the counter at the used record shop I worked at with a HUGE pile of records five minutes before we closed.
THEN had to inspect and comment on each one in that fooking irritating voice of his.
THEN (after an hour or so), MIGHT buy a few AND expect a discount, you know because he's JELLO BIAFRA.
His punk stance might do him well in his career, but his sh!t attitude in record stores and towards their employees always
showed what a true sh!theel hypocite he is.
And yes, he did this on more than one occasion in more than one store to more than I and I.
Your sis in law has my complete sympathy!
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
gets quoted in the SF Chron from time to time.
The only Punk I know is the Ramones singing Happy Birthday to Mr. Burns
on the Simpsons.

Words are "It was 20 years ago today". So confusion upon confusion :-)
The words are, "It was twenty years ago, today. Sargent Pepper taught his band to play." Etc.
"You won't come back from Fletcher-Munson curve"-Jan and Dean
I thought you meant the song.Still a year to go there.
There's been pockets of anarchy in the UK for much longer
than 40 years. It may never take hold, but punk did.
