She had the blues from an early age, with lots of bullying, culminating in high school when her class held an "ugliest man" contest which she won. For most of her life she was a very unhappy person, though the music was, for the most part, a time to be happy. (The post-performance time was always something of a struggle.) It's a compelling story, and there is lots of performance footage I'd never seen before. It's a really good job, easily on the level of "Amy."

This morning while listening to several Joplin albums I realized she recorded Little Girl Blue on the Kosmic Blues albums. Same song as Nina recorded. Did not know that.
Yep, Kosmic Blues is a good one.
