...when they first opened here some years ago, they played really interesting indie/rock music.
I went in last night for takeout and saw the Klipsch speakers but couldn't hear any music at all.
All the Chipotles I've been into have all had Mirage systems in them. However, as others noted, the acoustics are horrible (subwoofer mounted near the ceiling).
Their piped in music seems to be above par, at least.
I rarely "dine-in" there... Good luck to folks on the west coast...

Yep. All of the Chipotles i have been to all use the Mirage Omni Oasis Outdoor speaker models mounted up high near the ceiling.
I remember being in a chipotle a few years ago and noticing that the sound and music was far superior to most fast food places. I saw the speakers but didn't know what they were. I thought it was probably just the particular franchise owner who was a music lover.
So many of you guys can't appreciate this at all. The bored would throw me out if I told you what I thought of you. Nothing good to say, nothing but whining about not being able to get a $50 meal for $8. Is there another chain in any price range that attempts good audio?
The glass seems to be half empty with these guys. Maybe they need to get outside and exercise?
The original post was informative, I've seen those cut-outs at some locations but didn't realize they were making an effort sound-wise.
The food is good value and mostly nutritious, staff are at-worst courteous and most often genuinely friendly and the play-lists usually entertaining (I've never heard muzak in a Chipotle).
If only we could harness the negative energy expended on the internet .....

Possibly a side-effect of listening to their sub-par hifi equipment over extended periods of time.

those Klipsch may be overkill. As for the food, I've never been there when I or anybuddy I was with had a bad meal.

Starchfest. Crappy meat, lackluster cheese. Maybe if they actually used some nice dried cipotles in their food it would have some flavor.
It is fast food after all

Doesn't matter what the speaker system is in the Chipotles I've been too. They have about the worst acoustic arrangments conceivable, all hard surfaces and metal, echoey like a shrunken down gymnasium. Tends to make me want to get out of the building

I'm thinking they're thinking (hoping?) all the people packed in there might absorb some
of the soundwaves while absorbing the vittles and drink.
Certainly the investors are.

taqueria joint (where we've gotten burritos to go once a week for 11 years), but it's a cool
looking place and those Klipsch must smoke the typical jukebox blare or Bose sameness of
most restaurants.
My first "good" speakers were 1977 Heresy.
No Chipolte 'round here though except for our favorite caliente sauce.
If there was I'd like to try their food and would probably stay to hear a few tunes.

the Klipsch Heresy was quite a nice little speaker. Anyone heard the
latest iteration, the Heresy III?
make up for the clueless 20 something pierced and tattooed staff that seems to run the So Cal locations. The concept was kinda unique over a decade ago.A hit or miss experience going to one these days, I would imagine. Far cry from the original Denver concept now.
Havent been to one in years. Are they still playing silly ex Disney star, Beiberish nonsense?
"make up for the clueless 20 something pierced and tattooed staff that seems to run the So Cal locations."The first time I was in a Chipotle was the downtown Los Angeles location, about three blocks from the Sheraton (where I will never stay again). The staff was great. Efficient, courteous, informed. Having never been to one before, figuring out the menu was a bit of a puzzle. So I asked one of the LAPD officers in front of me about how to order. He threw me to the floor and - kidding! He'd obviously been there several times, 'cause he had the whole menu/ordering thingy down. I don't remember hearing any background music - just a lot of noise. Took my food back to the hotel, and it was great.
Next time, in Texas, I kinda had an idea of how to order and again the staff had it together. Placed my order and took it outside to the patio. Again, it was great, and again, all I heard was typical restaurant noise. Didn't even notice music.

In fact I wanted to stay longer.
"Starbucks" music I call it..... A lot of it is quite good, well above the "mainstream pop" fare.

Laughing...
Oh yeah, it's all TOTALLY organic, all right:)
More laughing...
Just a guess - it may have came on veggies from a supplier. It seems unlikely that several restaurants all under-cooked their hamburger at the same time.
In any case, the closures will give Chipotle an opportunity to put some decent grill covers over those speakers. Not only will they look better and actually match the decor, but it'll help to keep nasty airborne grease and other crap out of the mid and hf drivers.

Stay away from Chipotle unless you like this sort of sound:
