I suggest you go with what you already have. A too small room is NEVER very enjoyable. The only problem you may have is that if you are sharing with the family, they may not desire to be part of your listening sessions!
Follow Ups:
Yes. I do like the large space and that sound within it. My wife is tolerant of my music addiction and so she says little about it though I know she's love to have the system removed so she could have a pretty room.
I thought once about using headphones.....once.

You paid HOW MUCH for that electrical receptacle?!!! Are YOU nuts?
when I lived in a much larger home. Unfortunately the living room was no good for my system so I set up my system in a very large dining room. Unusual arrangement but it did sound great, while the living room remained pretty and unused by anyone in the family except at Xmas.
If I were you I would stay put in the larger room and temporarily move the speakers when critical listening is desired.
I discovered a solution to the 'critical listening' dilemma:
I inherited a bean-bag from my kid who no longer thought it fashionable. Sometimes, I store in a closet, but most of the time I just sit it in the middle of the room, squarely at the critical listening site!
A little classical music is OK then, while they are young, but nothing too avant-garde or 'war-like'. It could be very limiting.
I don't think she is willing to have any children now. But we do enjoy our Great Niece who is 15 months old. We babysit every Friday. She (Lily) LOVES music.
