I'm not sure if this should actually be posted in the Vinyl Forum, but I though it would be of interest to all (General) inmates. Also, perhaps something similar to this service exists already. In any event, here's a link to an interesting article where you can send a (personal) recorded file to a company that will cut a vinyl record for you.
Cheers!

Vinyl from mastertapes - good.
Vinyl from digital files - bad.

Disagree.... If the original mastering happens to be digital.....
Some of the best sounding LPs I've heard were Telarc using the Soundstream digital recording system. It was a 50 kHz sampled system, and in retrospect, may have fueled those "high expectations" in later digital audio technology ("Perfect Sound Forever") that was so rarely realized.
I think one of the reasons why digitally mastered vinyl sounded so good is that the RFI from the active digital playback is left behind at the studio and mastering lab. There is no RFI emissions from vinyl playback, regardless of how it was mastered.
They use a Technics SL1200 turntable and a Mac. Audiophiles need not apply. ;-)
