And ... got him started down the stereo road with some old kit I had in the basement for just this moment! (He's in grad school for the next year)
Naim NAIT 5i
Dynaudio Excite X12
Sonos:Connect
TEAC DAC
AppleTV
ARCAM Bluetooth rBlink
He's of the generation that doesn't have a CD Player and isn't (yet) into vinyl, so the Oppo 103 stays here for now! :-)
He's a good kid, and we're proud, and I'm glad I am able to "infect" him with the bug.

One of the kid's mother did the decorating with left over furniture from their downsizing move from Newport to Laguna Beach. I love the focal point in the corner and can't wait to see it covered with 63 empty beer cans.
I'll post a picture of the white sofas at the end of the year and guarantee that Ms. Martha won't want them back. Goodwill probably wouldn't even take them.
And yeah, he's got my old Infinity speakers and all they want is an RCA to stereo mini plug cable to plug in their phones

Great pics!
Good for you dad! I had 4 daughters & once they were married, hooked them up w/various speakers, receivers, TT's, cd players, whatever I had avaiable at the time. (over years, I had rebuilt or "refreshed" older pieces of nice gear) They were very appreciative but unfortunately it didn't start the itch. The minor victory was that each of the husbands loved the gear & requested my help when it was time to upgrade ... their HT systems. It just seems they want to concentrate on raising kids & working for a living. The nerve. When they do listen to music though, they still love the 60's music they heard me play. Can't complain tho, they are wonderful kids, all of them & great parents themselves. Dave

Yeah, I think young parents these days focus much less on themselves and more on their kids. It probably makes for a better childhood, but it does tend to squeeze out a lot of Parental time. But I also wince when I see how much housing can cost these days, too - that's can't be good for the "fun budget"
Still ... when they start getting older ... they might just add in a few things.

Yep, the housing market is terrible, especially for young couples starting out. One daughter & her husband are both working, not really hi paying jobs & no kids, but it's all they can do to afford a rental. Breaks my heart to see them struggle, but without being too cliche, they're adults now & have to make their own way. At least I gave them some nice vintage gear, but unfortunately that's about all I can do. Dave

Unless things reverse, the unique position that made America's economy so robust (included in it was a dirt cheap cost of living compared to wages which created a very bubbly economy for spending) is well and truly gone (Well it was gone about 1975 and the rest have been echoes).
We have been saving furniture, and stuff in our basement for over a decade for moments like this, so it felt good for such a long term plan to come to fruition. I am a pack rat, and this is one of the only times this worked in our favor!

Congrats on having a good kid as well.
Let's hope the infection takes. ... in the meantime I hope you hooked it up and showed him how to work it ;)
He helped me set it up, and I showed him how to work it all.
