... Firstly, I don't subscribe to Stereophile so I am unable to answer your query.
However for anyone interested in a somewhat eclectic interpretation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons you may like to try Red Priest's Vivaldi: The 4 Seasons ~ released in (2004)
It is performed by Red Priest in a four piece ensemble arrangement. A violin, cello, harpsichord and recorder are the instruments used.
It is not everybody's cup of tea but some might find it worth a listen. It is well recorded.
Here is a sample from YT;

What do you think of Max Richter's "re-interpretation" of the 4 Seasons. I think it's wonderful - it invigorates the music and was a sensational concert recently, with the Brandenberg orchestra.

Andy
Thanks. An interesting group. I am enjoying them.

...you might try Max Richter's re-working of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Live concert on NPR at the link below. There is also a studio recording available on DG in CD, DVD and vinyl formats.
...as a rock and roll guy, this is my favorite version.
Disclaimer: I am not a classical "snob"
I find it interesting, and in my mind, the kind of version that would entice younger people more than the stuffed shirts. And reading the comments below, I think I am right.
Proudly serving content-free posts since 1984.
. . . is JJ's (just re-issued in blu-ray audio, because of its amazing popularity on CD and SACD!):
And, normally, I HATE HIP-influenced performances!
...I wonder if the music is any good ;-)
Well. . . don't take MY word for it:This is a delight with a seriousness of purpose that rather belies the star-centred packaging. Jansen and friends offer this ever-popular work in a cut-down, chamber version that grows on you with each listening. The playing is full of vigour and imagination, and the sound merely adds to the appeal... you're unlikely to resist Jansen's charms for long.
- Gramophone
This is early Jansen, 2005, and it made quite a splash, no doubt because of the alluring photography that appears all through the liner notes. . . But she quickly proved herself to be more than a flash in the pan, actually an astonishingly gifted and multitalented artist of the highest rank. Her Vivaldi rates with the best!
- Audiophile Audition
On seeing the cover of the disc and before playing it, a friend said, "I hope she sounds as good as she looks". Well she does play very well, but not as she looks. This is not voluptuous solo playing but a clean, virtuosic, spirited rendering low on vibrato. . . one that may satisfy the most demanding critics. . . I was nearly seduced by it all, and that has nothing to do with the pictorial results of Ms Jansen's photo shoot in the booklet.

Plenty more where these came from. ;-)
But enough about the music - let's see some more from that photo shoot:
