I previewed a picture I uploaded, and it was upside-down. So I took the file (which is on my iPhone) and rotated it (on my phone) and saved it on my phone, uploaded it again to asylum, and sure enough it too was upside down!
Any theories?

Steve, I think the only way to guarantee your iPhone pic will be right side up is to turn your iPhone and take your picture in "landscape" mode such that the home button is oriented toward your right thumb and the volume button are pointing toward the floor.
If you take your pictures this way and then upload them to audio asylum (and lots of other sites) I think the orientation will be correct.
The other option is to use a separate iPhone app (something other than the default camera app) to edit the photo's orientation.
That fixed it. Thank you sir!
Glad it worked! It's not an obvious thing.... Apple devices interpret the orientation of the photo in a certain way, and a lot of web sites to not recognize this. It's tricky because you may never realize you've got a problem if you use only apple devices!
Well, I tried this on my wife's iPhone, and it rotated it 90 degrees (instead of my 180).
Also uploaded a pic to the asylum not taken with an iPhone and it had original orientation. I'll get it sorted out.
Thanks genungo and Jonesy.
During the past couple of days, the "expand" and "collapse" options (top of page) here produced the opposite results. Seems to be working OK again today. Internal server problems again, perhaps...
I don't have an iPhone but sounds like you just rotated the "view", in which case the original photo stays as it was.
When I rotate or crop pictures, I send the photo to my desktop, and then I use Photoshop.
Might try Google and see what comes up. A quick search revealed an edit and crop mode using photo app on iPhone. Maybe that's what you need to do?
Good luck!
