I thought this years CES had in general very good sound. In your system at home you might spend weeks, months or years trying to get good sound. At a show they usually halve 1/2 day to do it. It is a ton of work

but they are the experts
Says who??
I've actually had the opportunity to help set up a couple of rooms at CES, when illness disabled one of the partners who was supposed to help with the set up.
It's amazing. Other vendors are more than happy to supply cables, ends and other components for placement of their line card in the room. Couldn't get everything I really wanted in the first day, but did manage to get enough to get by (diffusors, etc.). I wasn't 100% happy, but the exhibitor was happy, and apparently many reviewers, one of whom came back three days in succession.
Setting up any room in reality takes practice, and careful listening.
