and having the resources to attend most of the audio shows west of the Mississippi has been watching the manufacturers worshiping at the feet of reviewers.
A reviewer will come into the room and all activity stops.
The unwashed are ushered out of the 'sweet spots' and the 'reviewer' plops there ample behind in to a front-row center seat, adjusts both of their hearing aids, and the music begins!
It's worth the price of an airline ticket and a few nights in a hotel just to witness it!
It used to be worst , in the past top tier reviewers did'nt tolerate plebs in the room , they would want you to empty the room and close the doors until they were finished ...

Especially true at CES where manufacturers really didn't like the idea that 'consumers' were even allowed to attend.
'Industry Only' was their cry going back a decade of two. I was working out of Utah at that time and attending CES as a vendor for reasons other than audio, so there was little they could do about my being there.
