Happy to answer questions.
This other song about The War to End All Wars - WWI - by Bogle is powerful, too!

Best anti-war song I ever heard. The rendition by Priscilla Herdman is brilliant, her beautiful voice and the tune captures you right away and then you catch the word and the contrast to the tune and her singing makes the horror of war even more intense and chokes me up. I used to try to sing along and never could.
Thanks! "I was only 19" is probably the best anti-war song I have ever heard. It brings a tear to my eye.
when Paul Brady was a folker and did this terrific anti recruiting song...

Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel. Not my favorite song musically but surely more well known.
Give us a little more credit ;-)

The 'tin hat' bit is wrong, but it is a fine song.

These are amazing songs. The Fureys and Davey Arthur are one of many bands that have covered and the Band played……" John McDermott does a wonderful job with these in "Songs of Rememberance."
Same with the "Green Fields of France." I spent last June Verdun, the Somme, etc. Cemeteries everywhere you turn. A distant relative has his name on the wall of one….
Those songs really hit home, no matter where your home may be...
Anti-war songs spread like wildfire.... As long as the lyrics are in English, most Americans wouldn't realize the songs were in regard to wars involving countries other than the United States.

First concert I ever attended was the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. Lyric Theater, Baltimore, MD 1966 or 1967. My family is a huge fan.
