In Reply to: RE: Anyone else listen to new cd's in car or boombox before main system? posted by Jonesy on July 06, 2015 at 20:18:00
...I always listen to CDs on my big system - at least a few times.
Then if there are cuts I like enough on it, I rip them to my iTunes to listen to on my iPod in the family room/patio or on trips.
Follow Ups:
I don't listen to music in the car and I do not own a boom-box nor do I need to.
Sorry to hear that.
I can't imagine not . :)
I drive only on weekends and really enjoy the experience. Besides, I listen to music a lot and the break from it refreshes my interest.
I drive only on weekends
I could never get used to the NYC commuting via taxi/subway thing. Even simple things like going to the grocery store and returning with your twenty bags becomes a logistical challenge.
I think you envision doing things the same in a big city as one would do elsewhere. In NYC, I never drive because parking is a major impediment. Getting around on foot is easy and almost everything I need is within walking distance (includes food markets and audio shops). If I buy more than I can carry, I have it delivered and often it arrives before I get home. Taxi/subway, when necessary, are fast and efficient.
However, I also have a weekend house in CT and there our habits are more as you would expect. It is there we do our major shopping carrying stuff in the car both to house and/or back to the city.
Really, it ain't too bad. ;-)
Quadruple ellipsis!
I've spent a week with family in Manhattan getting around with a weekly subway pass and get the picture.
Nice place to visit, but...
Although I retired a couple of months back, we have decided to stay in NYC for the future. We like it.
To each his own and you're certainly not alone in making that choice! Wifey and I do enjoy visiting NYC to take in a good Broadway production.
I live in a golf community and love the ability to take the cart to the course, clubhouse for dinner or just cruising around the neighborhood.
We prefer green space to concrete and steel and enjoy the quiet and absence of light pollution for telescope viewing.
I'll decline to comment further.
I do, but mostly because I'm trying to drown out the sound of road noise and mechanical monotony.

Actually, I enjoy the motor sound of my Honda S2k. Especially on the far side of VTEC. Sounds great at 8500. :)
I just can't get away from my addiction to music.
...during my 10 minute commute I listen to the news.
Probably my only disappointment with the '95 NSX-T's VTEC engine was that it sounded like a sewing machine.
Needed an exhaust system.
