You can spend an hour polishing a stone or you can spend 100 hours polishing a stone. Money pays for labor.

There are more folks, that have top 1% of income.* Thus, disposable income to spend on toys.Driving the prices up-and-up.
* Edit: Should have said, "the top 1% of income seems much higher today, than a few years ago. Like in the hundreds of millions per year."

is what I hear, in the USA. High, but not inconceivably...

According to the US Census Bureau, the top 1.5% make ~$250K/yr or more. The top 400 households (0.00027%) make $87M or more (most of these 400 are Hollywood celebs or the highest paid athletes, both groups that are adored by almost all, regardless of income level). They don't break out the demographic for Hundreds of Millions of income.
Regarding your post: Was this just a flippant remark made without any forethought to the accuracy? Or do you really believe that the 1% are all the carton character from Monopoly who light their cigars with $100 bills and carry canvas bags with "$" on the front? If it is the latter, then I think you would be surprised to discover that the 1% most likely live and/or work in your neighborhood. This would include a great deal of the mom & pop stores, restaurants and even the record store you shop at.
I've always been fascinated by this phenomenon, so would really appreciate an answer...

... Making $250K per year doesn't make one rich, not by a long shot. (obviously this depends on the totally subjective definition of the term, 'rich')
In fact, depending on where one lives, being a millionaire doesn't automatically make one rich, again, not by a long shot.
People have different lifestyles & priorities no matter where they fit in on the income scale.
I know many people are obsessed with how some individuals spend their own money. I can only imagine the obsession is rooted from envy mixed in with a pathological need to claim moral superiority to those who spend differently to themselves.
I have always found it rather ironic when some folks accuse those able to afford a $100K amp as mentally deficient or stupid or mad but the accusers are usually folks who have never made $100K in their life but they somehow think they are the smart ones.
Personally, I couldn't care less what type of house, car, audio system or income anybody has. In my group of friends there are folks earning at least 7 figures down to folks on welfare. It is what folks have to say I find stimulating, not how much money they earn.
Cheers.

You should mention this to your Boss, I'm sure he would prefer to discuss this with you all day long instead of cutting you a cheque... :)
and
Yes, it's all relative, on the Wallet Big Forum , good value is any 150K product that could sell for 300K, a really good deal is less than 100K but more than 65K, below 65K it gets too close to "regular stuff" , at 65K-100K there's room for 40k worth of wiring/cabling and 40K worth of isolation platforms.
Priorities, nuting wrong there ...........
... I'll have you know my boss is good looking, intelligent, charming, generous, humorous, compassionate & understanding.
I always get a bit of a chuckle out of my boss not minding me making love with his wife several times per week.
How good is that?
