so if the distortion has gone when using a different source then surley the cd player has the main problem yes ? as for the hissing you have to put your ear to the speaker to hear it but as the other side is totally silent it tells me there is still a slight problem and although not a big one a problem all the same, maybe the amp valve bias is out a bit or something similar ? all the same it looks like i'm going to have to send both the cd player and mono amp to the shop to be checked
ok guys I just swapped the EL34's out of the noisey mono amp and no change so then i tried the other 2 tubes, i didn't have replacements for these so i just used the tubes from the other mono amp and guess what the hiss is still there but only about half as much ? talk about confused i really would love to know what's going on ? it would seem to me that whatever is causing the hiss is based around one of the front 2 tubes i will check which one later, but i'm another step forward i guess
.
ok guys
latest news is that in have spoken to the local dealer and he is going to get my cd looked at, i will get some nice new tubes for the amps and if the hiss continues then i will get the offending mono amp looked at as well, thanks for everyones help
