He liked to say something along the lines of anyone can play the blues.
Not like him, not like him.
Blues shouter extraordinaire and Lucille couldn't have asked for a better lover.
Been listening to "One Kind Favor" all week.
What a life - saw him live 40 years ago and it seems like yesterday.
He was already a living legend.

Follow Ups:
The first time I saw him was at the Fillmore on Market '69 or '70 he shared the bill with Albert King. BB's band was in tuxedos Albert's was in dashikis I don't know why that sticks in my mind except maybe to highlight the diverse styles with in the genre.

Saw him in '71 at the Fillmore East around the 'Live At Cook County Jail' period (I consider this record to be his best!). I remember it to this day for the amazing music but also his entertaining professionalism. He was the only artist I saw at the FE in a suit and tie addressing the audience as 'ladies and gentlemen'. Was one of my 1st experiences as a youth of true class! RIP.
