I do not come here to read about whoever the hell died, or is dying..
The last request like this was sent to Whiners woad, so I am certain this one will be too..
I just want to state my compliant and take my medicine.
So all you guys who seem to love obituaries.. Feel free to beat on me now..
For anyone else who is tired of obits... Yeah I feel your pain.
Eventually we will all be dead.. But leading up to that, most of the folks we know will die before we do.. Fact of life. I just do not expect to have to read about them here.
And for those who like to.. Well give them a space to revel in the newly deceased.

Here is a perfect example of why I read and love obits:
Patachou, 96, Chanteuse of Sharp Shears- "Patachou, a Parisian chanteuse who "built a reputation on an offbeat name, a penchant for guillotining men's ties....."

It's sort of redundant for famous people, but for companies and people important to the hobby, why not?

Not me.
As with all threads, news, TV shows, radio, etc., if it's something I'm not interested in, I ignore it. Simple.
Looks like you deleted your own last post, but it's still showing as the last post under your moniker.

When i was totally unknown as Nuit, folks only responded to the message. As one of only two known women on this site, (me and Sue Kraft.. Who if you pay any attention ALSO changed her moniker and vanished)(I do not count May Belt, as she is a mouthpiece for her husband and his company. As she does not post except to either sell, talk up, or defend his products.)Then willkayakforfood who only posted a few times and has only come back a few times for a moment.
Any other women wisely stay hidden, and never reveal they are women, if they exist.
Back to the topic,,,
Women cannot post in this place without all sorts of baggage.
So, I am again vanishing. When or even IF I come back is a ??
I have already quit all the other audio sites for a long time, and even though I listen to music all day every day, and think about my stereo as much as most guys think about their penis.. I have no need to discuss it anymore..
Bye bye
Never did understand why you were treated differently, but I too saw it occasionally.
(Yeah, you were a bit cranky sometimes, but otherwise you were okay.)
See you later in your next "life" here on Audio Asylum!
Also, always assumed that @ least half the posters here are female.
Did I get that wrong too?
I must remember to post this in the obits.

I think 4everyoung and willkayakforfood do fine here and are much appreciated and are recognized as women posters without any effect on people's responses to their posts.
I think you get grief because of the contents of many of your posts, and that's true of a lot of other posters too. You are hardly the only one who stirs up controversy.
Sorry to be blunt. I think most of your posts are fine and often fun and informative, but when they are not, the reaction has nothing to do with your gender. Consider the responses below to your OP here?

that gender card trumps all ...
Part of being a community, as insane as we may be here, is welcoming the newbies, and saying good bye to those who have passed, and often remembering them and thanking them for all they have given to the community.
One of the most poignant posts I have ever seen here was from the wife of an audiophile who had passed away; she came on to thank this community for what it had meant to her husband before he passed.
My preference: keep this a community that cares about its members.
I have never read such a cruel or offensive statment here, ever. Maybe I am a bit over sensitive about the topic.
When I joined I was healthy but, things have changed. After colon and liver surgery, 2 rounds of chemo and all the radiation I can have, the cancer is back; I am terminal. I am dying. I will not be around to read my rememberances. I do hope someone here will write something, hopefully positive.
I have met a lot of good people here and hopefully have heed some in the hobby.
If you do not want to read the obits, then just skip them. Nobody is forcing you to. Many here are at the age where we will be passing on, never to write again. Many greats of the industry are at the stage and older. Until you get to this stage of your life, just be considerate of others and their feelings. If you can not, by all means, start your own website and control its content. That is the beauty of the www.

I am sorry to hear that Brian. You are in my thoughts and prayers
I'm so sorry to hear this Brian. First and foremost, you are in my thoughts and prayers and I will be hoping to read your posts here for years to come. And, I agree with your sentiments. It's important that we remind each other of who we are and what we are going through so that we are not simply disembodied voices represented by a moniker.
In my opinion, if the OP is who I think she is, she is a boorish and uncaring person who for some reason has a fan base (or at least did under her prior moniker). She has stated in the past that words don't matter, only actions, when challenged on offensive or simply idiotic comments.
My best to you Brian.

Mr. Levy;
As I read your response a sadness came over me. I have never met you, but I always enjoy reading your informative and reasoned posts.
You take care, and do the best that you can for as long as you can under your most difficult circumstances. John 16:33 comes to mind.

here's the logic of death.
logic point one: the person who deserves to know the obit is dead
logic point two: the dying person's last words are supposed to be deserving of memory as if all the person's wisdom from their life is now known in the dying end of life

Sometimes people don't hear the news of someone's passing quickly, and many people like to celebrate the life of a musical favorite by listening to their work. I don't always open every R.I.P. thread, but by reading the ones that are important to me I sometimes find like-minded people on here. Thank you to those folks who make those posts.
If you wish to avoid any post, it's pretty easy to do, and having to go to one spot to find them is more morbid than offending the occasional person who - like you - don't really care to read them.
Awww, are you worried you won't be remembered?
The passing of musicians and important people in the industry is of interest to me and others. Many like myself find the lives (and deaths) of the movers and shakers of this world to be fascinating. It's part of life. Evidently your interests are limited.

My mom worked as an American Sign Language interpreter for the deaf and hard of hearing and I used to tease her with my own reenactments of this.

I would consider this to be of General interest to the inmate community so it belongs in General. We don't need a specific forum for every specific little sub-topic.
Why do things have to be so complicated? If it bothers you, simply don't read it, don't comment on it, and don't kick up a shit storm over it.
N/t
...seems to me only a miniscule fraction are mentioned here. I can live with that, especially when they are on topic.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
as well as not even glance at a newspaper or popular magazine.
Actually I was thinking about posting my own obituary just so I could read the responses. No sense in reading them after I'm dead. Maybe we could have a forum called "I ain't quite dead yet" with due respect to Monte Python.
.
And the little sayings that I read at the bottom of people posts that you can't tell if it's part of the post or not. Sooo annoying.

they are stuffed... right?
and the ""Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination"-Michael McClure"
Which makes you a double offender.
I don't care if you're a nerd, nerds are cool (but simultaneously annoying if over exposed). But I don't want to read it every time I read one of your posts thinking it's part of the post.
If they would just use a different font or color etc..

unless you're being "forced" to read the obit's, you can easily just bypass/ignore, or simply move on and find yet another issue to bitch about.
I know how much Nuit hates reading the obits, and I, being a complete and utter dick, went to his house, put a knife to his throat, and and said "Read this, or else!"
So he read it.
My fault, and I apologize on Nuit's behalf!
;-)
.
Clever new moniker (for Elizabeth) that gave me a chuckle.
Wonder if she's into "Tales of the Beanworld"?
Don't mind the obit's myself.
her.
This means she's bitched about this topic previously, which means she jettisoned her previous
moniker to return here to complain about the SOS under a new (it) moniker.
Seems kinda convoluted...
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
I was wondering how long it would take before someone figured it out.
like the young surviving girl in Aliens ...
under such duress ... I'm surprised he didn't write his own obit/swan song.

If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well
(Proverb)
but then I don't come here to read other posters bitching about this, that and the other thing too.
I feel YOUR pain.
