She has a great voice as I discovered when checking out her recent gig with Tony Bennett. I just didn't care for the song selections but could certainly appreciate her singing abilities.

Not so sure...
Although I prefer the pop rock se writes and performs, she flat out nailed this Sound of Music tribute at the Oscars.

I don't think he was being serious. I know he thinks Gaga is 100% auto-tuned but then so would be all the other pop singers and Gaga Autotuned sounds much better than all the other pop singers auto-tuned which means she needs much less auto-tuning.Here is autotune and how it actually and absolutely can't SAVE a bad singer.

And here is Lush Life - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo7B_TdmFHc
I think people don't want to admit they were wrong about her because they have their own agendas about the group she supports = LGBT.
If people walk away from this saying she's a terrible singer - then they're tone deaf hacks. And they need to leanr the difference between auto-tune and Vibrato.
This beats the Oscars bit IMO and at least she wrote the songs, the music and plays the piano.

FWIW, I posted the response mainly to see the reactions.....
Do you like Kylie Minogue, by chance?

Her voice isn't my cup of tea - I saw her in Doctor Who though and thought she'd make a decent actress.
I actually don't like a whole lot of pop singers. In my teens I was more into Aerosmith, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Megadeath, Metallica etc.
I did strangely like Roxette but Marie Fredrikkson could sing and I found their English "not quite right" translations endearing. Recently I have enjoyed Capital Cities and Sia's Chandelier.
But with almost all pop I can't rarely listen through a whole album - I can listen to a few songs and have to move on. Pop is like desert - you can only eat so much before you get sick.
I also don't care that much for Lady Gaga's pop albums or the Cheek to Cheek album to be frank. I think she should put out an album like Jackson Browne's Acoustic Volume 1&2 and JUST put out an album of what she did on Howard Stern - that is an album I would buy. Generally I preferred pop/rock female artists like Sinead O'Connor, Suzanne Vega, Aimee Mann, Sarah McLachlan, Lucinda Williams, Sade, Jennifer Warnes, Amanda Marshal, Stevie Nix, Tina Turner, Annie Lennox, KD Lang, and LP.
Personally I'd rather see LP get more attention than the entire pop field but she has a take it or leave it vocal I suppose. But I think she sings Beyonce better than Beyonce.
I "discovered" this gal about 10 years ago right after she put out her 1st album. I saw her live in a small club in DC and caught up with her after the show at the table where she was selling her CDs. I got to talk to her for 10-15 minutes and she was very nice. Even got me an autographed CD that says "Richard, You Rock!!".
It's hard to believe that such a tiny gal could have such a BIG voice. As good as the CD was, she's much better in concert - really great stage presence...

I think part of the reason people get on the likes of Madonna isn't so much about Madonna but more about some smaller artist that they deem to be a lot better than has far less sales.
LP doesn't have the "look" for mainstream appeal and if it were not for a friend on facebook who posted a couple of her videos "Levitator" I was rather astonished by her vocals from such a tiny woman. I want to see the medical charts for the extra lung she must have in there.
It's great that you got the CD signed - and got to meet her. And as I am Richard too - I am one guy here you could sell that CD to :-)
I did buy her newest CD and it is good but pop compression and her vocals are not as pronounced as I would want. I am weary of CDs that sound overproduced - simple is often better. You buy LP to hear the vocal and they clutter the music up with everything but the kitchen sink (learned this garbage from George Lucas or something - fill the scene with unimportant crap and it loses the central focus). The youtube version of Levitator for example is better than the CD version. Uggh.
