Read Max Picard
I googled him, found these quotes:
"Silence contains everything within itself. It is not waiting for anything; it is always wholly present in itself and it completely fills out the space in which it appears." (p. 18)
"Where silence is, man is observed by silence. Silence looks at man more than man looks at silence." (p. 17)
I don't know which of his published works the pages references are to.
No matter. The above quotes are simply metaphysical nonsense.
But again, no matter. Silence is golden. Edward Abbey had some choice
thoughts on the matter, too.
I love the silence. Better I should say, I love the sounds I hear in the
woods or desert when I hike there and the only human is myself. I hear
wind, trees rustling, birds singing, the occasional critter rustling in
the bushes. But mostly I hear nothing. And I love it.
Do you mean they are metaphysical nonsense, or that metaphysics is nonsense?
If the former, which of the quotes in your post are you referring to, and why are they nonsense?
