it was the year 2145 and home theater is now 14.6 so you need 14 speakers and six subs. 2 channel had been outlawed over 50 years before....it was scary!

There are plenty of 'philes who swear by multi-subs distributed around the room, thus reducing standing waves in the lower freqs. Not sure about all those others...

The sad fact is in 2145 almost all outdoor activities have been outlawed.
The fact one has to wear the correct Hasmat suit for one's activities hampers all outdoor fun..
but kids all play the fully immersive games, the ones they plug directly into via the ASE 4423 format at the base of the spine.. School is the same.
So they do not care about 'outside'. And many have never ever left the safety of the domiciles.
Now THAT would be scary.

"If you are the owner of a new stereophonic system, this record will play with even more brilliant true-to-life fidelity. In short, you can purchase this record with no fear of its becoming obsolete in the future."
Laughing...
Close to that now. The Dolby Atmos system can have 10 speakers.

It wasn't a dream.
In 2145 there might be auditory implants. And music will be fed directly to the brain. Or maybe they genetically engineer people to not like music as it will interfere with "productivity"

In 2145, the way things are going, people will no longer have the ability to hear or speak. All communication will be by sight. Hell here it is only 2015 and Texting has become the mode of communication among the younger generation.
It's nothing to see young people setting across the table from one another texting one another.

Implants. Yes! Perfect sound forever..... But wait, how do we handle upgrades and tweaks? 10 gauge synapses, or is 12 gauge good enough? High End Audio Surgeon, a new career path.
