I had the honor to have Bob as my friend and "brother" for the past 42 years, ever since I met him at MIT (yeah, I'm one of those "frat boys" he occasionally wrote about :) ). In addition to being a fine writer, reviewer, composer, and musician, Bob was a brilliant mathematician, devoted husband and father, and a very funny person.
A "renaissance man" if ever I met one, he was at his happiest when he could share his passions with others; I think this came through in his writing. It was with his guidance that I moved away from mid-fi and into true high end music reproduction. He was generally more excited about me integrating a new piece into my system than I was.
Fare thee well, Bob.
