Just saw a Cadillac TV commercial which showed a very deluxe turntable and arm. Also in it was what appeared to be a Sennheiser HD800 headphone.

I saw it as well.
I think I saw that, too. A VPI Classic 3 or Direct Drive?
Cadillac. The turntable is a VPI Classic 1 that has two tone arm facilities. How dare a college dropout invent the personal computer, is supposed to be personifying a very familiar icon during the advent of the pc era.
If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well

Steve Wozniak. He can afford a Cadillac. He did all the heavy lifting at Apple when it was a startup. He was the guy in the trenches of Assembler code and chipsets.
I'm no fan of Apple, but that guy deserves a Cadillac and a nice stereo if he wants.

Yeah, but it was Jobs who had the vision and the magic. There are lots of good techies, and they are necessary but not sufficient. Think of the guys at Xerox who believed they were in the copier business while Jobs saw the precursor to the Mac at PARC and realized the future. I used a system with a GUI and mouse that ran of a DEC PDP-11 at SRI even before that, and SRI let that slip away.

over in inmate central, Jobs started NeXT as well, Tim Berners-Lee used a NeXT computer to start the world wide web (WWW) as we know it.
Jobs had a hell of a lot to do with lots of innovation, he was a visionary.
He may have been a visionary but exactly what was he envisioning? The results are the demise of record stores, the decline of the music industry, artistic stagnation, rampant theft of music. I could go on and on. Are we really better off?
dying prematurely because he refused modern medical treatment - easily findable on the computer that was his professional pursuit.
