I've just installed a new Windfield in my 3D tonearm on a Superscout/rim drive/classic platter/balanced out. Listening to the first record, the only word I could come up with is "awful". As the record progressed, and then the second side, the sound cleared up immeasurably, and the depth and air we audiophiles crave started happening. It is really amazing how this happens....just a realization the there is something new in the sound that wasn't there a few minutes ago. Right now, there is only about 50 minutes on the cartridge, but I find it quite thrilling to hear the beneficial changes.

Your new cart is in the supercart category. And you have the requisite table to hear it. Congratulations. It SHOULD sound incredible, even right out of the box!
One of these years I will go up the line from the humble Classic 1 along with an equivalent cart.
Happy listening!
You shouldn't be apologetic about your Classic. Its a terrific table and will bring you great musical delights for years to come. Enjoy.
Oh, I do enjoy my table. But, I've heard what the upper level models can do. And I have heard a rim drive VPI. Amazing!
The Classic series IMO, is at the beginning point of diminishing returns.
Peripheral selection(cart, cables etc)and setup will make or break your expectations as well.
