a half hour later I deleted it. Like Brian Wilson, I guess I was not made for these times. The interface sucks and genres I am interested in do not exist.
Back to free radio streams that do offer music I like, it is not always about sound quality here.....the music is way more important to us.
Follow Ups:
What 'genres' might those be?
Agree that TIDAL's search function sucks and that it brings a maximum of 30 album titles per search as opposed the 'Thousands' on can get with QOBUZ, another 16/44.1 streaming service not technically available in the US without some work-arounds.
What exactly tunes does it not allow you to stream?
I subscribe to TIDAL, QOBUZ as well as Spotify. Be interested to hear what kind of Sound Quality you got from TIDAL what with that fancy Chinese DAC/HEadphone amp you keep bragging about.
when I can't get FLAC on deezer I fall back to google music.
90% of the insane schiit I listen to is available.
I know this question wasn't intended for me, but I thought I would share my system.
Deezer Elite / Sonos, fallback to Google Music (320kbps mp3) on Sonos.
I refuse to log onto any of their services or use CHROME.
Won't even talk on an Android phone.
sure google knows too much about you, when google becomes aware of itself you'll be sorry (think Skynet aka. terminator scenario).
not that exciting, maybe a CD equal but no way to upsample it which has spoiled me by using Audirvana to up sample my HD X2.
Americana, Alt~Country,Folk, 80s Synth, Trad Country (not the shit that passes for country nowadays) Psychedelia.
There are streaming radio stations that I can listen to and enjoy those genres and like I said, SQ is NOT the deciding or important feature...
no headphones, speaker to test it.
the flow of the mind you use to listen?
I remember, remember those hologram stickers they use to have on the compact disks mid 1990's before you opened them up? I thought I could listen telepathically to what was on the CD without opening up the cd and just synchronize with the hologram. And I did, won't get into how, but I think you know.
something to be said about songs in the head.
You are one of a kind, son!! BTW, how was the fidelity of those hologram stickers? Keep up the good work, even though I cannot stand the "music" you listen to, I always find your posts amusing and fun to read...!

" ... and just synchronize with the hologram. And I did, won't get into how, but I think you know."
Good News! They just legalized it in Colorado! ;-)

As audiophiles, we take what's obsolete, make it beautiful, and keep it forever.
Hey! I have a blog now: http://mancave-stereo.blogspot.com or "like" us at https://www.facebook.com/mancave.stereo
nice! that's great news :) never thought that would happen there.
I use Deezer Elite, it is lossless streaming as well. On Sonos exclusively right now, I have the Sonos connect which is just like the squeezebox hooked up to my DAC and it has way more in terms of selection that what I heard Tidal has.
Deezer is a french company, so be forwarned your credit card company might give you problems (mine did) if you live in the US.
I use PayPal to pay for QOBUZ, another streaming service based in France but not officially in the US and therefore no SONOS app yet. :-(
I think you said you use VPN for it?
VPN won't work as QOBUZ is an application that talks directly to QOBUZ exclusive of your browser, so they know where you are.
And don't care.
I signed up through a 'back door' into the web page sign up and then upgraded while in Europe.
Listed my address as France and pay with PayPal, that's all.
sounds p.s. Like lots of work.
What the hell is wrong with us?
In the direction of Toulon.
Nice area but we are there less often these days. :-(
no ability to see genres being offered and no way to find the prices, at least I could not find them. Not enuff info, screw them too.
that's correct because they haven't officially launched in the US. You need a Sonos.
I am a pretty pissed off mood today too, cranky myself. What did you lose, $20? for a false hope and a broken dream about something that didn't turn out the way it ultimately should?
I feel ya.
I lost nothing except more disgust at 21st century musical choices.
that's good. I read Tidal didn't have enough music available and their software is not up to speed yet, they are pretty new.
if you need me to check some things on Deezer Elite let me know, I can see if available. However Sonos is $350 for the connect system I use. I don't use their b.s. speaker crap which is made for the masses, and about your comment about 21 century music, you're listening to the wrong stuff, none of this rehashed Disney children who got old and learned how to sing garbage is good for your constitution.
I heard a Sonos system and thought the sound sucked. I would not but one.
Appreciate the offer ...thanks
go here. I've been happy so far with a Sonos connect through my Apogee speakers but I do wonder how this upgraded Sonos sounds. The down side is that now you'd have a $900 Sonos connect. Or not!
I use the digital out to my DAC, not the best but it is good.
Enjoy the week Larry :)
I have a Sonos Connect out to great DAC. I tried both Tidal and Deezer head to head for (2) months. Tidal, for me, was DA' BOMB! Dropped Deezer and am lovin' Tidal.Couldn't be happier!

Jay Z is talking about buying some companies that include Tidal
Alan
It wasn't Dr. Dre, it was JayZ.
Current situation is that the shareholders of the parent company of Tidal have objected to the offer made by JayZ. I am unaware of any further progress in the intended purchase.
