...I wrote many of them down but the music takes on a life of its own during these sessions - one song makes someone think of another.
We kept it to about 3 hours and 3 bottles of wine because 2 of us had to work today.
We were all a little tired so we ended playing mellower music - no Zep, Hendrix or even Rolling Stones this time.
I put this list together today as I put the CDs away.
Allman Brothers - Dreams (I like to start with drama)
Hard Day's Night - When I Get Home, You can't do That, And I Love Her, If I Fell
Leon Russel - Roll Away the Stone, Tightrope, Hummingbird
Muddy Waters/Hard Again - Little Girl
Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4, Wishing You Were Here (Beach Boys backup)
Croz - What's Broken (Mark Knopfler on guitar)
Robert Johnson/King of the Delta Blues - 32-20 Blues, If I Had Possession on Judgement Day
Who/Live at Leeds - Substitute
Santana- Jingo, Evil Ways, She's Not There
Yes/Fragile - Roundabout
Roger Waters/Amused to Death - played the beginning of 2 or 3 cuts but couldn't get into it
Bruce Hornsby - A Night on the Town
Jesse Colin Young/Live - Ridgetop
Getz-Gilberto - Girl from Ipanema (MoFi)
Graceland - Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes, You Can Call Me Al
Boz/Memphis - Mixed Up, Shook Up Girl, Cadillac Walk
Everyone had a great time!

No jazz or classical music? The friends you had over not appreciating those genres of music? Just curious...

What part of rock and roll night don't you understand, just curious...
How's that glass house coming along?

...it's called "rock and roll night" for a reason.
Last time we played Sonny Rollins.
This time Getz-Gilberto.
No one is interested in classical, just the classics (rock).

...one of the guys and I saw Leon last year - one of the others has a friend going to see him next week.
Muddy with Johnny Winter, James Cotton and Pinetop Perkins.
I occasionally have session like that with a friend of mine, we go through Black Metal and Noise playlists pretty quickly. The sessions start at night and last until the sun comes up, followed by breakfast with the whole thing, pancakes, coffee, steak, eggs, etc... Usually on the weekends when we don't have work.
I got that same friend into high end as well. I setup him with older equipment I went through, he enjoys vinyl at his home, while I am mostly digital.
