Give me City Park in the fall over the Fair Grounds (any time of the year).

Will WWOZ be broadcasting any of it? That's my favorite station to stream over the net.
For those of you who are going, try to check out Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials. They're aw fantastic Chicago blues band
Yes they broadcast from there every year, too bad you can't stream the food then you would really be set.

I love Nawlens!
Y'all have an excellent time!
Say hi to David F. recording enginn-eaer.
:)
I presume most of these acts will be outdoors, in highly amplified arenas,
during the start of the summer (i.e., hot, muggy, buggy) season, with
many many thousands of people in attendance, in various states of being
high, noisy, and/or otherwise obnoxious.
No thank you.
The line up looks fine. Several acts I'd like to see. But I think I shall
decline to attend, for the umpteenth consecutive year.
I'm sure you will be sorely missed.

Just can't get excited about mega events anymore. "Theaters" are the biggest venues I prefer these days and lucky to live in a town with a great one- Georgia Theater.
Although I do want to go to Earle Fest this year.
Im not a big fan of festivals my self but I usually go at least one day. I find it to be a good time to get things done around the house.

Here's a brief summary of the acts:
Elton John, The Who, Jimmy Buffett, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, No Doubt, Keith Urban, Pitbull, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, T.I., Chicago, Trombone Shorty, Hozier, Widespread Panic, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ryan Adams, Steve Winwood, Wilco, The Meters, Jimmy Cliff, Buddy Guy, Allen Toussaint and More...
Of those, maybe 3 or 4 could be called jazz acts. The rest are rock, pop, country, reggae, and hip-hop. No matter, that's quite a lineup!!

SO long ago I don't even remember WHO the headliner was...
Anyway, Tito Puente was on the bill and he came out and said (paraphrased):
"OK, we got booked here at this jazz festival but we're gonna play some SALSA for you!"
Nobody did mind one bit far as I could tell...

I saw Chicago recently in a TV concert. They hard to combine with another group (I forgot who they were) just to have 3 horns in the brass section. Without Peter Cetera and others from the original band they seem to be missing quite a bit in my mind.
My first jazz festival was 1975. It wasn't mainly jazz even then. I'm not sure if it ever was mainly jazz. There is a little bit of everything- music, art, great food and it is a lot of fun. It used to be a lot less crowded, but someone let the cat out of the bag years ago.
We pretty much quit going when it got shoulder to shoulder. At one time we could take the kids and a blanket and sit down and see the stage. Now you would be trampled. Obviously, it is even more popular now with better acts, but not as family friendly.
If you ever plan a trip to NO, Jazz Fest is a good excuse.
when I went there was far less rock and pop......me no like

Yeah but maybe they should stop calling it the Jazz & Heritage Festival and just call it the New Orleans Music Festival.

besides, N.O. music isn't some pure musical form but a
gumbo of tasty ingredients that becomes its own thing.
It's all good whatever they call it!
