So say Santa was real.. and he would bring you whatever audio toy you really want.
What would it be?
For me the #1 toy on my list would be a pair of Magnepan 20.7
If those were too much, I could be very happy with a new Rega RP8 turntable.
What's on YOUR list?
Follow Ups:
Devore Silverback
with the Dynavector 507-II arm and a DRT XV-1t cartridge. If Santa wants to cheap out I'll take a Sparta.
By denying scientific principles, one may maintain any paradox.
Galileo Galilei
or dubs...1/2", 30 ips, no NR -- analog tracked, analog mixed, and analog mastered!!
Thank you, Santa :-)
Vbr,
Sam
I actually asked for, and got (already!!), the one thing I knew Santa could get that would help get better music in the home here:
A new (and much quieter) refrigerator; the "music room" is right off the kitchen, certainly within sight of the refer.. We had purchased a side by side counter depth (white) Samsung about 3 months ago from Lowes. Thought it was going to delivered around the EDA, but no, it took 2 months just to get into the country. Finally installed, a Godsend to our ears. No more complaints from the family - regardless of music playing or not - the old unit was almost 19yo (GE). It is a day and night difference. Will post a pix or 2 soon...
IF I could have one MORE wish it would be for less tinnitus in my left ear; I am a good boy and pray every day but am not any better. I really have to watch it these days so as not to get worse.
I have had it for about 10 days now. I include this photo. as it shows just how close the refer. is from the speakers (Maggies - MG1.6qrs) as seen in the very right hand side of the shot.
Who wants to come along for the ride?
A pair of 2.5K all silver OPTs: $6,000/pair.
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.
A room for perfect sound.
Or Gaku-Oh monos...or maybe the WAVAC HE805... nothing much you know...
me one of these I would believe in him all over again:
Had one. Sold it. Dumb, dumb, dumb dumb. Dumb, dumb, dumb dumb DUMB...
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
There was probably a very good reason for selling it which has faded over the years and now looks dumb.
Cheer up

A night with Sasha Grey "cleaning" my records!
Where Asylum members, with some cursory instruction on speaking on camera re-enact the more interesting exchanges found on these pages.
The scripts are already written. No false drama would be needed.

A VPI Prime Turntable.
And a Pear Audio Blue Kid Thomas Turntable.
And I'd like to be able to continue the streak I've been on at our local Poker tournaments.
But mostly Santa, bring me the Prime. Otherwise I've got to ask you again, and again, and again....
See ya. Dave
A Bricasti M1 DAC. I've heard one, and it's enough of a step up from my current DAC that I'd like to have one, but also so expensive I'll never buy myself one. :)
"Do you need those light bulbs on your stereo?" - my niece, looking at a Dynaco ST-70
How about ... a home with a dedicated and fully "doctored" listening room,
a pair of Avalon Eidolon Diamonds loudspeakers, VTL amps, and a first rate
cd player? Or, barring that, peace and prosperity for all in our time.
(Neither is going to happen ... )

medscape. they quote authoritative journal articles (for English-speakers, naturally); i subscribe to several university public health department newsletters, but now it's not really necessary.

Yes, Gary, I hear you on that one and agree. I asked for that - and got a quieter refrigerator instead. The old refer. bothered everyone's tinnitus in the family. Partner Marie's tinn. is from diving in less than ideal conditions; now she is paying for it the rest of her life. Mine, from vocational/ accidental oversight and some heredity I am sure.

Hi, Nuit,
I'd love to have a Parasound Halo CD 1 player. I still enjoy CDs and this player would be a great way to listen to CDs without the need for an external DAC.
Happy holidays,
Tom
I'd could ask, but I don't think KEF Blades would fit down the chimney.

it is purely a lack of sufficient stores of money thing with me, or I would have it already.
And I wasn't a completely good boy this year...

All 12 panels, power supplies, et al. Perhaps throw in a pair of Townshend supertweeters to finish them off.Or perhaps send a Schiit Yggdrasil, when it is finally released?
Or maybe an Aesthetix IO Mk II Jupiter Series phono preamp, with volume controls? Any of those would do, I'm not fussy... :^)

That is some of the nicest stuff I've ever seen, very cool looking!!

Give me rhythm or give me death!
I'm not greedy, I would like a pair of Golden Ear Triton 1 speakers, Wyred4sound dac2 dsdse & a used Shunyata Hydra2. That's what I'm planning on buying in 2015 but Santa could save me a whole lot of money.
"Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells."
Total satisfaction with the equipment that I already have. This way I would never want for anything more. If your asking me to believe in Santa then I can believe he can grant me this.
A complete MBL Master Reference System and a room designed just for it.
There is a complete Shindo system on Audiogon now For $210,000. That would make a very nice xmas
Alan
OOPS!
Do I have to go into rehab now?
JM
PS: Failing that, a Stuart & Sons grand, a patient teacher, and time to practice.
And I don't even currently have a TT set up.
And a pair of Focal Utopia IIIs. It is the season after all.
but if she wanted to pretend to be one for a while, that would work...
Can't honestly say the desire is located in me heart either.

though even the objectivists could be on the right path as regards measurements in this instance.
One could choose a slew of terms from the glossary below as the crossover of descriptions
for a beautiful woman and... stereo equipment (!?!?!?) seem to reflect a fine synergy...
and strangely correct polarity. Pretty fooked up in many ways. but seeing as how this
is mostly a male hobby, not at all surprising.
I mean, "sweet spot"? "chesty", "involving", "visceral"...
The choices for descriptors reflect a males lively reproduction of aural fixations.

off to me bunk yet again!
20.7s would be nice, but I would hope he would supply the amps as well! :)

Beyoncé rack would be just fine with me.

Be sure to shield it from EMI/RFI and inmate fmak will join you. Keep some tin foil hats around for good measure. ;-)
... :o)
My ideal dungeon will be shielded with depleted uranium. According to some of my learned American friends one can't be too careful. With the likes of the CIA, DHS, NSA, DoD, FBI, DoJ plus NK & China all spying on my emails, sms & phone calls I live, like my learned American friends, in indescribable fear! d:o)
However, without naming names, please don't wish on me certain asylum inmates to share my padded cell with me.
I have just had hot fast game of tennis with my eldest son and a refreshing swim in the cement pond. Now it is time for some tunes and a suitable libation on this magnificent Sunday afternoon.
Psst, don't tell the NSA I own some Russian vodka, an Iranian silk rug and a North Korean ping pong bat! :o)

Throw away that Ping Pong bat. Buy one from Cuba.

if it leaks to the VC...he could end up being MIA and then we could all be put on KP...
Merry Christmas

However, she insisted that the Tooth Fairy is 'definitely (her words) real'.So, under my pillow, I would like to find whatever Gonzo Turntable rig Fremer is using these days.
