But the Hendricks martini (with cucumber) makes the wait easier.

Are you trying to drain static from your your hifi system, or from your keyboard? Or...?
It's really bad in the winter. If I cross the room (wool rug) wearing my usual leather moccs, touching anything gives a big enough zap to disconnect the mouse and keyboard and sometimes screw up the Macbookpro. LPs can take on a huge charge as well. Sneakers or barefoot are both OK. I ordered a static-dissipating mat for the desk; we'll see if it works as well as the cookie sheet, which works perfectly btw. Curiously, the Metric Halo dac and Universal Audio processor are never bothered. On bad days it helps to take LPs out of their sleeves near the humidifier (AirOSwiss ultrasonic - got two of 'em.)
In the studio, it's almost opposite: leather soles are good, not bad. There, the Avid DACs get all discombobulated with the slightest static discharge, and, like home, occasionally confuse Protools and the MacPro running it.
The answer is obvious: barefoot and cookies.
