I agree with the post below that says you need a new camera. If not for yourself, please consider the other inmates (Winky face). I like yer gear, I just would like to see it in a bit more detail.
Here's mine as it sits today..

I'm not sure what kind of camera to get, do those point and shoots work ok? what brand?
I don't have a social life, so taking pictures of my system would be all I would use it for :)
Well if you aren't going to use it much the money might be better spend on music and booze but any modern point and shoot will be fine for most people. Camera technology is getting cheaper all the time.
But don't let our ribbing convince you to buy something you don't need or want.
I still use a Nikon Coolpix ( I bought a refurbished unit @100$ ) but a photo capability of these smart phones are getting better and better.
This system shot was done with an iphone 5.
So if you are just going to putter around, you don't need no fancy camera.
Also, at a low light, a tripod helps.
I second the iPhone. I have a good digital camera, but often find it more convenient to just use my iPhone for most pictures.
shot this minor panoramic using my Tab 3.
(San Diego harbor)Incredible place you have there btw ;)

I think the issue is my listening area is extremely dark. I have a few android devices. I would never use an apple product ever again. I tried MacOSX and the whole iThing ecosystem. Not for me. I am a Linux guy since 1997.
Plus apple products are very expensive. The problem is low light I think and no professional equipment. I would need a camera where I can set exposure to about 20 seconds.
regarding Apple products, I use it for my work but to date, I have not owned any *i* products.
I don't even know how to use iPods. ( nor do I care )
I use a simple LG flip phone and I tell everyone I do not text. :D
If the ikea floor stander light is the only lighting you have, it will be difficult. It might be cheaper to get get another light.
