I was fortunate enough this week to be able to sit in at a recording session at Esplanade Studios, an old church beautifully renovated, here in New Orleans, here are some pictures I wanted to share. This is me at the 1978 Trident 32 track mixing board and no they didn't let me fiddle with the knobs.
They had these beautiful Studer decks plus two 2" 24 track decks.
I wish I had taken more pictures but I didn't want to get kicked out.

Yes it was and they laid down some serious music. He had the U.S. debut the E-Collective last night at Snug Harbor so I got to see the process from rehearsal to recording to performance. I'm sure Laura will get some advance copies so I will send you one if I can.

Damn! What good is it being in a recording studio if you cant fiddle with the knobs. That's like having a girl friend and not being able to fiddle with her body parts. Frustrating I tell ya......
Hey DSM, nice pics, I bet you had a blast.AudioSoul, a bunch of us toured The Village Studios in Santa Monica in October. In the studio where they had an echo chamber (a very live room), the chamber door was open about 1/3 of the way. Our host told us not to move it, since it was probably in the exact position where they wanted it. Now you know why you shouldn't twiddle the knobs, either! :)
Edit: It has been brought to my attention that there are two "Village" studios in Santa Monica. Go figure! I'm talking about the famous one on Butler Ave. www.villagestudios.com.

Hey My Dancing Sea Monkey,
You look like Sylvester that finally caught tweety. Must have been a blast.
Looking at those awesome Studers brought back memories of my long gone Revox A77.
Cool shots.
I know I waited until every one went down to eat before having the audacity to sit at the board in the big chair. Are there feathers at the corner of my mouth?

All you need is a Fedora hat with ostrich feathers.

About ten years ago, I was being examined by an eye doctor.... He was looking into one of my eyes with a bright light shining into it, and made a comment.
"You must be a software engineer."
I responded, "How do you know?"
The eye doctor then said, "There's a backward impression of the word 'ERROR' burned into your retina."
sweet pics!
