Counting Crows singer was our backup singer for a number of years, - but we're more of Peter-Gabriel/Lou Reed/New Order influenced act.
I wouldn't say that the SF audiophile society has a lot of women, - but likely better represented than other areas.

...my wife and I both worked with his father, Gil Duritz, MD.
He used to give out tapes of Adam and tickets to see him at Berkeley Square.
People laughed until he had the first hit record - one of the top selling first albums ever.
Adam was in my band, Counting Crows, & the Himalayans all at the same time.
David was on his way to a lucrative recording engineer gig before his monumental decision.
We used to hang at Adam's parents crib on occasion.
Did you get any of those tapes? Those were very "different" than what later became.... I played on a few of those demos that came out of Dancing Dog.
Almost all the songs from Dancing Dog made it to the big recordings later.
Adam is a great guy, with a great voice, and no one in my crowd ever doubted that he and David would "make it"
