The only thing I could do would be to swap tubes the same as I had previously done before picking up this new set. I don't have an actual tube tester.

A swap of the two will be OK, even different tubes would change things some if not correcting it provided the tubes are the issue.

I had a persistent dropout with my 4000 this past spring so I asked Kevin Deal if they could repair it. He told me that it all is modular and each of the two modules is $169, so I could try one and if it didn't work return it and get the other one... I decided to replace both and have a
basically new unit. You need to return the old modules! Otherwise the only problem I have is dimming of the display so I can't read it across the
room. It sounds great!
