It wont do them any good if they dont pay attention to their potential customers.
Follow Ups:
If I'm going to spend high end money, I want to work with an experienced dealership who knows their stuff and has the facilities for a proper audition and is willing to provide after sale support such as help with setup and facilitating service if necessary.
The Magnolia sections of my local BB stores can't do any of that. Their staff is really inexperienced and they have a lot of turnover, they don't know how to setup speakers properly, don't know much about system building and matching, the listening spaces are not designed for good audio quality and suffer from excessive background noise, they won't do home auditions, and their after sale support consists of selling you a service/protection plan so they can send a "Geek squad" person to your home who has probably never seen an XLR connector before.
I might buy a TV from them, but that's about it.
I guess I'm happy that the Hi End equipment is getting out to more of the general public in these stores. You make many valid points, but the fact of the matter is that "most" people have never been exposed to this type of audio gear before because they never set foot inside a real audio salon. Why? I'll tell you why. Sadly, it's because many audio salons made people feel like crap for looking. One was made to feel second rate if they didn't "have an appointment." That snobbish attitude chased away many potential customers. So cheers for Best Buy for selling some truly high end equipment to hopefully turn more people on to the hi end.
.
.., so many of the smaller and better brick n' mortar shops have gone out of business and there is nothing better than Magnolia within 500 miles or more.
and even if you are not buying, its at least nice to be able to see the live stuff, other that on a website.
