Has anyone tried to buy something C.O.D lately? USPS and UPS both do it, just wondering how difficult it is.The reason I ask is the amount of fraud on Audiogon lately, seemingly legit new users selling nice items, particularly phono cartridges and tonearms at too good to be true prices. I know you can eventually get a refund if you are scammed and you paid with Paypal, but if COD is an option....

I've always prefered buying with "Shark"
(Sorry, some mornings thinking in terms of "seriousness" is'nt going to happen for a while)
...sorry, I thought you said O.C.D. and I was going to give you some pointers.
Very funny, player.
Call it changing one's mind, cold feet. etc. too many folks just refuse to accept the package.
So you are out the cost of sending it, and the item gets to be mistreated twice. Sending it and getting it back.
If you insist on cash, UPS or FedEx will still make you wait for your money. If you take a check, you are more likely to be scammed than if you took the check up front.
All around COD is a loosing proposition for the seller. For a buyer it is also a problem. The shipper will Never allow an inspection of the item before payment anyway. So you amy be paying for a box of rocks. With no recourse.

I would never ship c.o.d. When I had my wholesale business 50 percent of the orders were refused when I shipped c.o.d. After that I only shipped prepaid.
... I smell a rat.50%?
You had a wholesale business and was it retailers knocking back the COD orders?

Prior to the advent of the internet, C.O.D. was a great way to pay for consumer goods. It is an excellent way to evaluate your package for infraction(s) made by the seller or delivering company (USPS, UPS or FedEx).
Somebody trying to scam you will not ship to you using COD.
But who's to say if a new user on whatever buy/sell forum is legit. Is C.O.D. actually doable and has anybody tried to buy something using C.O.D as a way to pay.
